Why Should You Use Wix?
If you’re thinking about using Wix, but you’re not sold on their services, we’ll try to show you some of the benefits of using Wix as your website builder. We hope that these pros and cons will show you what Wix has to offer so you can decide if Wix is right for you.
In this section, we’ll be taking a look at some of the pros and cons of using Wix.
Wix Review 2024 — Pros of Using Wix
Before you decide to use Wix, you’ll want to look at some of the benefits of using Wix as your website builder. In this Wix review, we’re going to look at some of the benefits that come from using Wix as your website builder.
Here are some of the main reasons that you may want to start using Wix.
1. Free Website Plan
One of the main reasons that people begin to use Wix is because it doesn’t cost anything to get started with Wix. You’ll be able to set up a free Wix website without any trials or dates for when you need to pay.
With the Free Wix Plan, you’ll have access to their professionally designed website themes, the Wix website builder and be given free hosting for your website. If you’re not sure about using Wix, but you’d like to give them a chance, then you may want to start using a free Wix website.
There are some limits on the free Wix websites, and you’ll need to upgrade for a small fee to a Premium Wix Plan to unlock extra features, but we’ll cover that in the cons of using Wix. However, the free Wix plans will give you time to set up a website and trial their services to determine if you’d like to upgrade your account and unlock even more features.
2. Easy to Use
If you’re looking for a website builder that makes it easy to build a website and removes the complexity of web design, then you’ll want to use Wix. One of the main benefits of using Wix is that its platform is easy to use and understand. We found that Wix has done an excellent job of making their platform easy to use and beginner-friendly. Whether you’re trying to sign-up for an account or create your own website, Wix is a breeze to use.
In the name of ease, Wix offers a partner program that allows you to connect with professional agencies that understand how to use Wix. With these Wix partners, you’ll be able to hire a certified professional to custom code your website with features that you may not usually have been able to create.
3. Fast Website Speed
One of the main benefits of using Wix is that the websites that are built through Wix will load quickly. This is because Wix offers hosting for all of its customers to ensure that the Wix websites will load quickly because of fast hosting speeds.
The speed of your website is an essential feature for engaging your audience, retaining them on your website and for SEO purposes. This is because a slow site can frustrate your viewers and cause them to leave your website with a negative view of your brand or business.
In fact, studies have shown that up to 40% of website visitors will leave your website if your website takes more than 4 seconds to load. However, you’ll never have to worry about losing customers due to slow load times when you’re using a Wix website.
4. Hundreds of Premium Themes
One of the perks that come from using Wix as your website builder is that you’ll have access to hundreds of premium themes. While you may need to pay for premium themes when you’re using other platforms like WordPress, you’ll get access to professionally designed themes at no extra costs.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a small business owner trying to gain traction by being online or a blogger that’s trying to get more subscribers. With the Wix theme library, you’ll always be able to find a theme that meets your needs.
While you won’t be able to export or import different themes from outside sources like Theme Forest, you’ll be able to choose from hundreds of different Wix templates and customize that template into a stunning website.
5. Intuitive Drag and Drop Website Builder
Another benefit of using Wix is that you’ll have access to their intuitive website builder so that you can DIY and build your own website. This website builder uses a drag and drop functionality that allows you to click elements and then drag them into place.
The benefit of using a drag and drop website builder is that you won’t need to know any code to build your own website. All you’ll need to do is select the elements that you’d like on your page and then position them in the right place.
When you’re using a website builder with drag and drop functionality, you can create a website in 30 minutes, and you can create a large site in just a couple of hours. You’ll also save a lot of money on web design by creating a website yourself.
6. Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI)
While it’s relatively easy to build a website through Wix, it just got a lot easier to design a Wix website through a new feature called Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI). With this feature, you’ll be able to create a new website through Artificial Intelligence.
To begin building your website through the ADI feature, you’ll need to answer a list of questions about yourself or your business. Once you’re finished inputting all your information, you can allow the tool to create a website for you.
We were skeptical about a tool that could create a website for us, so we gave it a try to see what it could do. While it wouldn’t work the best while creating complex websites, we were happy with the finished site, and we think that this tool will only become more advanced in the years to come.
7. Wix App Market
One of the problems with using a website builder is that the finished website may not have very much functionality. This is because you’re limited to the features and functions that you can access through your website builder. If your website builder doesn’t offer a specific feature and you don’t know how to code that feature into your website, then you’re stuck with a site that doesn’t have the features that you’d like.
Wix has focused on this problem by creating an app market that you can use to add extra functionality to your website. The app market allows you to install apps on your website that can add additional functionality, such as:
- Sign-up Forms
- Shop Payments
- Event Calendars
- Pop-up banners
- Marketing Tools
- Social Media Buttons
- Live Chats
While there are hundreds of apps that you can install on your Wix website through the app market, these are some of the more popular apps installed on sites built with Wix.
8. Automatic Backups
When you’re creating a website, you don’t want any accidents to happen that could delete your progress or cause your site to crash. While you can’t always prevent your site from crashing, or accidents from happening, you can save your website.
One of the benefits of using Wix is that it offers automatic backups for all of the websites built through their platform. With the automated backups, you’ll be able to store a version of your website through Wix and use the ‘1-click restore’ option to restore your website if anything happens.
These automatic backups will happen several times a week, and you can also manually back up your website after you’ve done some work on your website. Your website will also be backed up and saved whenever you add a new app to your website.
9. Help Center and Support
When you have an issue with your website, you never want to be sitting on a phone with a call center that doesn’t understand what you’re talking about. If you’re going to use a website builder, you need their customer support to be knowledgeable about their services, and easy to get in touch with when you have an issue.
One of the things that we love about Wix is that they’ve taken customer service to a whole new level. Once you’ve created a Wix account, you can get in touch with their support staff via email support tickets, phone or live chat.
We found that the Wix support staff knows what they’re talking about when it comes to their products and services. They were also quick to help and seemed happy to be of service to us, and we also didn’t feel rushed with our problems, which was a nice bonus.
You can also access the Wix Help Center if you’d like to do it yourself and solve any problem that you’re encountering. With the Wix Help Center, you’ll be able to access informative guides for resolving any issues with your Wix website.
10. Wix Saves You Money
If you’re looking to build a website for your business or brand, you’ll likely want to save money on web design. One of the reasons that Wix is so popular is because they’ll help you save money on your website.
When you first sign up through Wix, you’ll be given a Free Wix Website that you can use to set up your website. If your website begins to grow, you may need to upgrade your plan to a Premium Wix Plan so that you can unlock extra features.
You’ll also save money on web design when you use Wix. This is because the cost of web design is between $2,000 to $5,000 for a small website. With Wix, their largest plan is under $30 per month, which means that for a year, you’ll be paying up to $360 for your website, which saves you over $1500 per year on web design.
The problem with modern web design is that your website needs to stay current so that your customers will stay engaged with your brand. However, your business likely can’t afford to hire a web design agency to redesign your website several times a year. When you use Wix, you’ll be able to redesign your website as many times as you’d like without paying extra fees.
Wix Review 2024 — Cons of Using Wix
As with every business, there are some flaws and disadvantages that come from using Wix as your website builder. While it’s nice to assume that Wix is nothing but good, it wouldn’t be a complete review without telling you about the cons of using Wix.
As we were creating this Wix review, we came across several features that could have a negative impact while using their platform. In this section, we’re going to look at the cons of using Wix.
1. Wix Free Plans Have Limits and Ads
When you’re using the Free Wix Plans, you’ll notice that there are some limits to what you’re able to do with the free plan. While there are many benefits to getting started with a free plan, you may need to upgrade to a Premium Wix Plan.
Here are some of the limitations of the free plan:
- Wix in your URL (e.g. wixsite.com/yourDomain)
- Wix Ads on Your Website
- Limited Storage (up to 500mb)
- Limited Bandwidth (up to 500mb)
- No Payments Plugin for Ecommerce
While these limits may affect your website, especially if you have a lot of traffic coming to your website, you’ll still be able to set up a free website and test out the site builder before you commit to a monthly premium plan.
2. Published Themes Can’t Be Switched
One of the disadvantages of using the Wix themes is that you’ll need to redesign your website if you decide to switch your theme. If you want to change the theme on your website, then you’ll need to design the new theme from scratch.
As soon as you install a new theme, your old website will be deleted, and you’ll be creating a new website on another theme. When you use other website platforms like WordPress, you’ll have to start your website from scratch when you start using a new theme. So this feature isn’t a disadvantage, but you should be aware that you can switch your themes without recreating your website.
While you can’t change themes without starting from scratch, you can redesign the theme that you have installed as many times as you’d like without having to start from scratch, as long as you keep the same theme installed.
3. Not Ideal For Massive Websites
If you’re thinking about using Wix, but you want to have a large website, then Wix isn’t for you. The Wix platform is an excellent option for smaller-medium sized sites, but they’re not ideal for content-heavy websites.
Before choosing your website building platform, you’ll need to consider the type of website that you’ll want in 5 years. If you’re dreaming about growing an online store with hundreds of products and inventory, then you may want to consider another platform that’s geared to eCommerce, like Shopify, BigCommerce or WooCommerce.
If you want to become a blogger that gets more than 50K visitors per month, then Wix may not be the best platform for you. This is because Wix has limited storage, which only allows you to have so much content on your website, which makes it difficult to create a content-heavy content website.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for a website that has under 100 pages, and doesn’t get thousands of visitors per month, then Wix is a fantastic platform for you. If you’re a small business, professional or creator that’s trying to get local business, then Wix is a great option.
Wix Features
This Wix review wouldn’t be complete without taking a look at the features that you can access through Wix. In this section of the Wix review, we’re going to take a look at various elements that you’ll use when choosing their platform as your site builder. Here are some of the Wix features that you may be interested in using:
1. Wix Editor
One of the main features that you may be interested in using is the Wix Editor. This feature is their intuitive drag and drop site builder that you can use to build an online site for your brand, business or personal blog.
Here are some of the features that come with this Editor.
- Professional Themes – With this editor, you can start from scratch and design your own site, or you can choose from over 500 professionally designed themes. You’ll be able to choose from hundreds of themes that fit your industry and style, which gives you an edge on the competition because you’ll be able to create an online site that your customers love.
- Customizable Templates – You’ll also have the ability to design your own site with a blank template, which is a unique feature that allows more customization than other site builders. With this feature, the structure of your website will be created with the blank template, and then you can design the site by adding your own content, photos and information.
- Advanced Design Features – You’ll also be able to bring your website to life with advanced design features like animations, video backgrounds, scroll effects, and over 100 fonts that you can download to use on your site. You’ll also be able to use media galleries to display videos, images and text on your website. With these design features, you’ll be able to create your site from scratch and customize the site design to your heart’s desire.
- Mobile Optimized Design – One of the benefits of using the Editor to design your site is that your online site will be optimized for mobile devices. When you’re creating your site, the editor will automatically scale your website to fit the dimensions of the mobile devices. This means that when your audience tries to open your site on their phone, it’ll load and format properly.
With the Wix Editor, you’ll be able to design a website in 30 minutes when you use a professionally designed theme. If you want to start from scratch, then you’ll be able to create your site in a couple of hours–without any coding skills.
2. Wix ADI
One of the features that Wix has to offer is the Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI) feature that you can use to build your site automatically. All you need to do is answer some questions about your business, project or brand, and the ADI tool will do all the designing for you.
Here are some benefits that come from using the ADI Tool:
- Tailor-Made Content – Once you’ve finished answering the questions about your site, the ADI tool will take the information you’ve inputted into the tool and then use it to build a website for you.
- Original Website Design – You want a unique website, and that’s what the ADI tool will do for you. The ADI tools combine web design and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create a site that’s original and unique for your business.
- Smart Tips – The ADI feature can be used to recommend tips to you while you design your website. If you’d like to be hands-on with your site design, then you can use the AI to recommend some tips for creating a better online site.
- Fast Website Creation – If you’re looking to create an online site in your spare time, the ADI tool will help you out. With this tool, you’ll be able to build your own online website and launch it within hours.
While many people would like to be hands-on with their website creation, you can use the ADI feature to recommend small changes that would benefit your finished site. If you don’t want the hassle of doing it yourself, then the ADI tool can complete the whole building process for you.
3. Wix for Professionals
If you own a business or work in a professional field and you’d like to create a website, then you can do so through Wix. You’ll find that they have all the features that you’ll need to have a professional online image.
Here are some of the professional features that you may want to use.
- Custom Domain Name – When you use one of the premium plans, you’ll be able to set a custom domain for your website. You can buy a domain name or purchase one through another registrar and use it for your online site. This will ensure that your audience can find your site and that you own the domain name.
- Professional Email Address – Another professional feature that you may want to use is the personalized email addresses. This will allow you to create a custom email address with your business or website name in the email address. By doing this, your brand will look more professional and better your online image.
- Free Website Hosting – When you use the Wix platform, you’ll have access to free hosting for your website. This is a nice feature because it’ll ensure that your hosting is taken care of, and they’ll make sure that your web hosting is fast and secure.
- Member Logins – If you need to have password-protected pages on your site, then you’ll have the ability to restrict access to pages. This will allow you to give specific members the password to these protected pages so that they can unlock the contents once you’ve approved them.
- Monitor Analytics – One of the professional features that you may want is the website analytics feature. When you have the analytics set up, you’ll be able to view data about your audience so that you can continue creating a better site.
- Contact Management – You’ll also be able to create subscriber lists and manage your contacts. This will make it easier for you to perform email marketing and keep track of your customers. Through the contact management system, you’ll be able to keep track of your subscribers in one place and keep them organized.
While there are many other professional features that you could use, these are some of the more popular features that professionals like to use when using the Wix services.

5. Wix Logo Maker
When you own an online business, you’ll need your image to look professional so that your audience will want to do business with you. One of the ways that you can create a better image for your business is through branding. If you have good branding, then you’ll look more trustworthy and professional.
Fortunately, you’ll have access to a free logo maker when you use Wix. You can use this logo maker to create a brand image for your business and create logos for your website, business cards and other digital products.
Here’s how you can create a free logo in six simple steps:

Do We Recommend Using Wix?
The whole purpose of this Wix review is to determine if Wix is right for you. In this section of our Wix review, we’ll look at some of the reasons why we recommend Wix as your website builder. While we were reviewing Wix, we found that their services were easy to access, and you can sign up and begin building your site within minutes. This easy sign up was a huge bonus because we’re busy like everyone else.
As part of our Wix review, we decided to give their website editor a try to see what it could do, and we were happy with the results. We found that the site builder was simple to use, intuitive and beginner-friendly. We also loved that you could create a website in under an hour, without having to pay for a subscription or sign up for a trial.
We know that support is an important factor, especially for anyone that doesn’t know to code. While we were writing this Wix review, we decided to put the support staff to the test to see what they know. However, we were able to find all the answers to our questions from the informative Wix Help Center.
We also found that the pricing was comparable to other site-building platforms, and can save you money on web design. If you’re looking to create an online site without spending a lot of money for a web design agency, then Wix is a great choice.
Overall, we would recommend Wix for anyone that needs a professional-looking website without spending too much. While your website may not be able to handle more than 50K visitors per month, many online sites won’t reach this amount of traffic, so you won’t have anything to worry about.

5. Does Wix Save Money?
Yes. Wix can save you money on your website creation and hosting costs. This is because you can build a website and host it for free. When you decide to upgrade your website plan to a premium plan, it’s cheaper than a website created for you.
A website will cost between $2,000 and $5,000 when you get a web design agency to build a website for you. When you use Wix, you’ll be paying around $400 per year for your website, if you use their most expensive plan.
6. Does Wix Own My Domain Name?
If you purchase your own domain name, then you own the domain name, and Wix is just the website building platform that you use to create your website. If you use a free Wix plan, then your website will have a domain name that’s owned by Wix (e.g. Wixsite.com/YourSiteName)
We recommend that you purchase your own domain name so that if you decide to switch to another website creation platform, you’ll be able to transfer your domain name to another web host and create your website with another platform.
7. Do Wix Websites Show Up on Google?
Yes. The Wix websites will be crawled and indexed by Google and then be placed in the Search Engine Results Page (SERP) until you tell Google not to crawl your site. If you’re hoping to get organic traffic from your website, then you won’t have any problems with a Wix website.
Keep in mind that ranking on Google doesn’t happen automatically because you’ll need to grow your website, create quality content that generates backlinks and slowly build the domain authority (DA) of your website over time.
8. Is Wix Better Than WordPress?
There are pros and cons to WordPress and Wix that you’ll need to take into account before you choose a platform to build your website. With Wix, you’ll have an easier time getting started, you’ll be able to get started for free, and you won’t need to know any code to build your website.
With WordPress, you’ll need to have some coding ability if you want to build a complex website that’s well designed. You’ll also have to have some startup money for themes and plugins so that your website can run properly. On the other hand, Wix is designed for smaller to medium-sized websites that can be used to get you online with little hassle. With WordPress, you’ll have more potential to grow a massive website that can rank globally.
Wix is an excellent option for you if you’re looking to gain local traffic for your blog, business, or online store. If you’re trying to create a large website that you can customize with coding, then you’ll want a more robust platform like WordPress.
9. Is Wix Bad for SEO?
Your Wix website should be good from an SEO standpoint if you know what you’re doing. Often, the websites don’t rank well because the URL structure is poorly optimized, and the website’s content is weak, unauthoritative and poor quality.
If you want to grow your website through SEO efforts, we recommend that you begin with content marketing. With content marketing, you’ll be able to grow an audience of readers by providing value first. Then your website will build domain authority as your viewers begin to link to your high-quality content.
10. Can Wix Be Hacked?
Since the Wix platform is a closed system, it’s more difficult for robots and hackers to gain access to your website. You also won’t need to worry about constantly updating your security features because it’ll be taken care of by the Wix team.
If your website is hacked, you won’t need to worry about lost data because your website will be backed up and stored. This means that you can restore your website to the state that it was before it got hacked.
11. Can You Switch From Wix to WordPress?
While there’s no automatic method for switching your website from Wix to WordPress, it can be done manually. There may be some plugins that can help you import a static version of your website. However, it can be done by hand.
First, you’ll need to manually save all the content on your Wix website, so that you can paste it into your WordPress website. Once your Wix website is down, you’ll need to migrate your domain name to WordPress and set up your new website.
Once your website is set up, you can recreate those same posts, and Info Articles by copying the posts that you’ve saved to your laptop, and pasting them into a WordPress blog post. While this process may take some time, it’s far easier than recreating your posts from scratch.
12. Do Professionals Use Wix?
Yes. Wix is an excellent website builder for professional services and agencies. This is because you’ll be able to build a website through professional themes that can make your business look good to an online audience.
If you’re hoping to build a website with more than 100 pages, then you may want to use another platform like WordPress. This is because you’ll have some limits with Wix, and it’s not great for massive websites with lots of content.
13. Does Wix Have Password Protected Pages?
If you have pages that you’d like to share with specific people (like clients), you can create password-protected pages. You can then send your client the password to this page along with the page URL, and they’ll be able to view the page while ensuring that it’s password-protected from the public.
People will often create password-protected pages because they’re trying to sell courses online, showcase photography (wedding photos), or even create staff memos that aren’t for everyone. This allows you to create posts and share them with those that need to see them and prevent everyone else from accessing the page.
14. Is Wix Legit or a Scam?
Wix is a legitimate company and isn’t a scam. They allow you to build your own website through professional themes and host your website for free. While it may seem like a scam because it’s free, that’s their marketing strategy to get new customers.
Their marketing strategy is to provide their services for free so that you’ll sign up, and then once you realize that you can create a quality website through their website builder, you’ll upgrade your plan to unlock more features and marketing tools.
15. Is Wix Too Expensive?
No. Wix isn’t too expensive because you can create a website for free. If you decide to upgrade your plan for more features and better hosting, you’ll pay less than you would with other platforms.
